Finished this still life alla prima painting

Finished this still life painting couple days ago. It was done in the alla prima style and went by pretty quickly without much struggles. I ordered real roses because the fake rose petals I bought for this painting just didn’t look realistic enough. When it came to choosing the book cover image I decided on master copy of Thomas Wilmer Dewing’s “Girl With a Cello”. Beautiful pastel painting which I didn’t do him justice. When I was looking through master paintings to choose from, I realized that often it depicted cello leaning upright on things like chairs that looks dangerous . I’ve seen today’s cellists bag on this all the time but I think back then they did this commonly. I just might try it because I don’t own a cello stand. It could be more secure than it looks. Holsoe did amazing paintings depicting cello in this manner and surely painted from life while cello was posed that way for a while and maybe for multiple still life painting sittings . I chose the duport etudes for the letterings of the book because it’s what I’m studying on the cello currently. I painted in the letters literally alla prima at one shot without rendering . I’ll post a video on it later on my YouTube
