Recent self discovery in pencil drawing sketch technique

My most recent self discovery in pencil drawing in sketching mode is to NOT make it about accurate values (dark and light shading ) . I always tried to represent values as accurately as possible to nature that I’m sketching from . Not necessarily to get exact swatches of shades the same because that’s not possible anyway with the pencil but at least to try and get the relationship of values as close as possible. You can see the difference how that was always my main goal even in doodly quick pencil sketch sessions  . But just last year actually I found that  by Not doing that, with disregard for that attempt causing rather inaccurate or unfinished shading adds some nice mystery and makes the pencil sketch look more interesting . I don’t deliberately try to make it inaccurate values or anything but just stopped trying to focus on that . Also because  in painting I already do the full value stuff there so it’s more interesting to me now to do something different for quick pencil sketch drawings   . I looked at some past masters quick sketches such as Heifetz sketch by Sargent etc and it shows that they didn’t care so much to get full value representation Pencil drawing sketch
